FEEL THE GROOVE 80s Soul Classic • Female Lead & Male Rap [DJ INTRO — 8 bars] (Vinyl crackle, soft Rhodes chords, filtered bass slowly fading in) Male DJ — spoken, low and smooth: Yeah… come on now. Let the rhythm take control. Soul in your heart… And the groove in your soul. (Two short scratches — drums drop into the groove) [VERSE 1 — FEMALE LEAD] Midnight calling, feel the heat, Hear that rhythm in the street. Something magic in the air, Put your hands up, lose your cares. Let the music take you higher, Feel the burning, feel the fire. When the bass begins to roll, Let the rhythm free your soul. [MALE RAP — gently crossfaded between her lines] *(Female: “Let the rhythm free your soul…”) * Male Rap: Check it, check it, here we go, Feel that bassline down below. One time for the heart and the soul, Two times, let the good times roll. *(Female ad-lib: “Let it roll, baby…”) * [PRE-CHORUS — FEMALE LEAD] Ooh, I feel it coming, Something in the way you move. Don’t stop the music, darling, Let me feel that groove. [CHORUS — FEMALE LEAD + BACKING HARMONIES] Feel the groove, let your body move, Let the rhythm show you what to do. Feel the love, let your spirit fly, We’re gonna keep this feeling alive. Feel the groove, all night long, Put your heart inside this song. You and me, just let it flow, Feel the soul and let it grow. [MALE RAP — SHORT INTERLUDE] Yeah, keep it smooth, keep it tight, Soulful rhythm through the night. From the left to the right, let it ride, Got that old-school feeling deep inside. (Scratch: “Feel the groove!” — drums continue) [VERSE 2 — FEMALE LEAD] Silver moonlight on your face, Everybody’s got a place. No more worries, no more pain, Let the music wash like rain. Every heartbeat, every sound, Feel that love all around. When the DJ brings it through, All I wanna do is groove. [CROSSFADE — FEMALE & MALE CALL-AND-RESPONSE] Female: Can you feel it? Male: Feel it in my soul. Female: Can you hear it? Male: Let the good times roll. Female: Don’t you stop it. Male: Keep it moving right. Both: We’ve got soul tonight! [BRIDGE — FEMALE VOCAL, STRINGS BUILDING] Take me where the music plays, Keep me dancing through the days. Hold me close and don’t let go, There’s a feeling only we know. *(Male whisper underneath: “Only we know… yeah…”) * [BREAKDOWN — 8 BARS] (Bass and Rhodes only. Female vocal echoes with delay.) Female: Feel… the groove… Male: Bring it back now… (Two rhythmic vinyl scratches. Drums and bass return.) [FINAL CHORUS — FULL FEMALE VOCALS] Feel the groove, let your body move, Let the rhythm show you what to do. Feel the love, let your spirit fly, We’re gonna keep this feeling alive. [OUTRO — EXTENDED DJ MIX] Female ad-libs: Feel it, baby… Keep that feeling alive… Ooh, don’t stop now… Male Rap: One more time, let the record play, Keep that soulful feeling every day.
