YOUR SPIRIT LIVES ON, DADDY A tribute to Pa Joe Dahn — “Third World” [Spoken Intro] Daddy, it’s me, Vera. I have so much to tell you, And never enough time. This song is for you, Pa Joe Dahn. Third World… we will always love you. [Verse 1] You worked so hard, you kept on going, With loving hands and a determined heart. You showed up for your friends and family, And gave each child a special part. Selfless, caring, always giving, You made your love so clear to see. Daddy, all those lessons you taught us Still guide the person I’m trying to be. You taught us, “Give without expecting, Let your kindness come without a price. Be there for the people who need you.” You showed those words throughout your life. [Chorus] We will always love you, Daddy, Pa Joe Dahn, your spirit lives on. Every time we help each other, Your love gives us strength to carry on. Third World, you are remembered, In our hearts you’ll always stay. Thank you for the life you gave us, And the love that guides our way. [Verse 2] Zedee’s in the Army now, Daddy, Jemima’s doing great in business, too. She’s following your hardworking footsteps, And I see that determination shining through. Erika has joined her in Liberia, Derick’s getting ready to say, “I do.” Rachel’s doing good, dear Daddy— How I wish we could share this news with you. Your beautiful daughter Vera’s doing great, I have three children of my own: Ruth, Wonser, and little Bella, So much love inside our home. I’ll teach them how you cared for others, And tell them stories as they grow. They’ll know the goodness of their grandpa, Through the love you taught their mama to show. [Bridge] Some news is harder to tell you, Helena isn’t feeling well. Two of your youngest boys are struggling, More than these few words can tell. But you taught us to stand together, To reach out when the road gets rough. May we keep showing up for each other, With patient hearts and steady love. Oh, Daddy, Ma Betty’s doing great, She’s back in Liberia today. I wish we had another conversation, There’s still so much I want to say. [Final Chorus] We will always love you, Daddy, Pa Joe Dahn, your spirit lives on. In every gift without conditions, In every friendship standing strong. You gave so much and asked so little, We are grateful we belonged to you. Third World, your children will remember, And carry your kindness in all we do. [Spoken Outro] Gotta go now, Daddy… But my love stays with you. From Vera and all your children, Thank you for everything. Rest peacefully, Pa Joe Dahn. May your spirit live on. We will always love you.
