Awake, O Sleeper — The Pit Never Sleeps” Verse 1 The altar’s cold, the lamps burn low The watchmen sleep while nations groan A thousand voices call His name But few still feel the holy flame We trade the sword for softer things And wonder why the darkness sings While we lay down, the pit works on Its agents rising with the dawn Chorus Awake, O sleeper, arise and see The pit of hell is working free They’re planting thrones with hellish seed A soul’s sole aim to rule the earth But greater is the One we serve Awake, O Church, and take your stand The King is coming for the land Awake, O sleeper, the pit never sleeps Verse 2 They climb the courts, they buy the air They rewrite truth and call it care In high places they plant their own While sleepy saints protect their homes We sing of love and close our eyes As hell keeps working through the night The same old serpent, same old lie “Did God really say?” — still alive Chorus Awake, O sleeper, arise and see The pit of hell is working free They’re planting thrones with hellish seed A soul’s sole aim to rule the earth But greater is the One we serve Awake, O Church, and take your stand The King is coming for the land Awake, O sleeper, the pit never sleeps Bridge But every knee will bow one day Every throne will fade away The Lamb who was slain still holds the key To every high place we cannot see So rise up, remnant, blow the horn Shake off the slumber, face the storm For Christ has overcome the grave And every agent of the pit will pay Final Chorus Awake, O sleeper, arise and fight The Light of the world has pierced the night No agent, no throne, no scheme of hell Can stand before the Name we yell Greater is He who lives in us Than he who prowls and works and trusts Awake, O Church, the King is near The pit is working — but so is fear Of the Lion who never sleeps Outro Awake… awake… The pit never sleeps But neither does our God.
